Hendrik Bres – Biography

Hendrik Bres was born in 1932 in The Hague in the Nethetherlands and settled in Canada in 1960. Primarily a self-taught artist, until the mid 1970’s he was known for his vividly coloured and textured abstract paintings. His work since then has concentrated on depictions of the parkland and foothills of Alberta. These works are noted for their energetic brushwork and sense of space within a small format.
