Verne – Biography

Gordon & Billie Bird owned Birds Studio Shops in Laguna Beach, California during the ’40’s (perhaps earlier) until the late 50’s. Verne was one of their favorite artists. His style is very recognizable. Verne also painted large scenes. He would come into the shop with his pet monkey (perhaps a spider monkey) on his shoulder. He lived in the Laguna Canyon and was truly one of Laguna’s popular artists.  Birds Studio shop was on Pacific Coast Hwy, just across from the Hotel Laguna.
